Aromatherapy Massage with Pre-Blended Oils is a combination of classic massage therapy
and the use of essential oils. During an aromatherapy massage the properties of the
essential oils are absorbed through the skin and inhaled through the aroma released.
Essential oils are distilled from flowers, fruit, bark, roots, resin, leaves, seeds
or leaves of certain plants and each type of oil is believed to have certain beneficial
qualities and, sometimes, healing properties. The massage strokes used for aromatherapy
massage are intended to aid relaxation, improve circulation, increase suppleness
and release muscle tension.
Aromatherapy oils are created by blending small quantities of selected essential
oils with a massage carrier oil - such as sunflower, apricot kernel or grapeseed
- in combinations designed to deliver specific therapeutic benefits. Depending on
the oils being used different effects can be achieved, such as boosting the immune
system, revitalising, soothing, uplifting, calming, or bringing clarity of mind.
Before the beginning of this massage a range of pre-blended oils will be offered,
each of which has been expertly blended to deliver a different effect. For example,
there are blends for eliminating toxins and cleansing the body, another to help settle
and restore balance in times of emotional stress, a warming blend to help revive
aching and tired muscles and re-charge and restore energy levels and an invigorating
blend to help stimulate the mind and re-energise the body.
